I bought jeans for the first time in 6 years for work and one exceptionally lazy day I thought - WHY NOT JUST DRESS LIKE A UNI STUDENT FOR ONE DAY OF MY LIFE. My fly is undone in these photos because...who am I kidding, my fly is pretty much permanently undone. Is it because I forget? No, it's because it's comfier. The university magazine (UNSW Blitz) approached me and from now on I'll be contributing to their fashion page and this is going to be the first contribution. If you go to UNSW, pick up a copy of Blitz and look out for my "Student Style Tips." They'll probably be laughably bad, though. I wouldn't take style tips from myself unless I wanted to look like a disheveled street urchin.

Earlier this week, I was reading the updates on the Libya uprisings/revolution while on the drive to university. In between the motion of the car, the late Winter sun stretching its arms after a season of slumber, and my friend cussing about apparently everyone on the road's inadequacy at driving, I was sort of overwhelmed by how insane it all was. Sometimes reading the news makes me feel so down and leaves me questioning the state of things and of us as people. And sometimes reading the news makes me feel like a tiny speck of dust gathered on some long-forgotten corner of a dark room. It puts everything into perspective and it's just overwhelming how many problems there are out there, and how relatively stupid everything I worry about is.

One quote I found on CNN from a Libyan rebel caught my attention - "Please, please, please, let the international community know -- we are hungry for freedom, we are hungry for democracy, we are hungry for a state of law and order and we would like everybody, everybody everywhere in Arab countries and in the international community to support us and help us to get that." Seriously, words.

To lift the dank mood I've put this corner of the internet in - they found a scrapbook of Condoleezza Rice curated by Gadaffi in his compound. Reminds me of how someone told me that Osama Bin Laden was a Big Bang Theory fan. These things just aren't supposed to happen.

Also a big thank you to Sophia Phan from Moulinfrock. I won her Rimmel London giveaway. I have only started to dabble in painting my face so I'm sure the prize will spark hours of unadulterated fun drawing on my face in front of the mirror.
P.S. There's no such as thing as too many Twitter friends.

Even if you were a disheveled street urchin, you would still be super cute. And I adore your necklace. It is a very sobering dose of reality to think how we take freedom and democracy for granted, when really it comes at such a steep price especially for those suppressed by dictatorships and who are less fortunate.

You look pretty amazing in jeans, jussssst sayin. I'd take style tips from you any day ;)

And it's super disheartening to keep up with the news, but at the same time, it's so eye-opening in that it helps us become more aware of what else is going on out there. Really chilling quote.

Congrats on getting the new gig with your uni's paper, I would take as much fashion advice from you as I could possibly consume. & I agree completely with your sentiments on Gaddafi and just the news in general; makes you feel so small.

Is it incredibly dorky that the whole time I was reading this/looking at the photos I was straining to see what book you were reading. I'm such a mega nerd :P

Oh this is the best blogging post I've read in weeks. Most of the great fashion blogs just contain beautiful fashion and pictures, but I really really like that you are beautiful and have a great sense of fashion AND able to think about anything else. This makes your blog even more interesting!

You always look fabulous, there's no point in telling you that. But I have to point out, that when I saw this post, I thought you looked different. After staring at the pictures for a few minutes, I realized it was because you were wearing a very classic pair of blue jeans, and that you, Jessica, always wear some funky, weird thing... which was obviously not the case in this post.

Just wanted to share my thoughts, but anyways, gorgeous as always.
