I just got my EF 50mm f/1.8, and it's my new baby. My friend laughed at how excited I was to acquire the cheapest lens on the market, but it makes life so much more beautiful. It's like wearing rose-tinted glasses (I seriously hope I used that cliche properly), but 100 times better, and everything is all mesmerizingly, deliciously blurry. I'm a sucker for good bokeh. I'm a sucker for new treasures and good food and thrifting. Which is basically everything that happened today.







I haven't done a "what I did today" post in a while. If ever. I sort of abandoned those to the far-off days of blogging about the colour of what shoes I wore that day and speaking in code about some fickle crush. So here goes:

- I went nuts about my lens.
- I had a picnic with my friends (HOME MADE FOOD BITCHEZZ, even though I'm the only one there who can't cook).
- I thrifted but bought nothing.
- My floral Doc Martens arrived in the mail in all their flowery, oversized glory.
- I practised my Wedding Dress dance.







This bin is my best friend. So, I apologise if my personal posts are getting too frequent and too many in number. Now that my 50mm is here, you can expect a whole lot more (and nicer to look at) outfit posts. Now I'm going to return to doing the assessment that I abandoned to eat Hello Panda, blog and listen to Bon Iver on repeat. You'd think that because of how mellow he is, he'd be easy to study to. RIGHT? WRONG. He just makes me want to take my clothes off underneath a rainbow and eat leaves maybe and sway like a tree and chant instead of doing my assessment.

A pussy-bow blouse never changes its spots.

And yes, I do realise that one of my buttons is undone. It seems like I cannot make a single outfit post that does not involve at least one piece of my appearance being dishevelled or out of place. It adds to my charm, right? Right? Doesn't it? *sits in the corner*.



This skirt is evidence of my inability to do anything remotely easy. It was originally at a really awkward length, so I decided, being the smart cookie I am, to cut it and then ask my friend to hem it. Seeing how I'm a smart cookie, I forgot you need to leave a little bit of length so you can actually hem it. So now I'm left with an unhemmed, way-too-short skirt. And the sad things is, I DID IT AGAIN THIS MORNING. To the most beautiful black pleated dress. Woe is me.

Navajo

I picked up this big fluffy pile of mohair goodness for $3 today. The colour is actually really insane but I had forgotten to wipe my mouth after eating pizza...leaving me no choice but to make like your typical teenage girl and desaturate the shit out of these photos. I always seem to fail to wipe my mouth after eating foods that leave obvious rings of gluttony around my mouth...coffee, chocolate, any type of Italian food. What is more dismal, is that I walk around the whole day with these stains on my face, and nobody tells me. It's like society is trying to sabotage any good chance I have of looking sane and clean for once in my life.



Heeeeeeeeeeeeh, ignore my facial expression up there. I think I'm the Queen of making awkward/inappropriate facial expressions/hand gestures.

Anyway, it's my favourite new ugly sweater/cardi, it's like an alpaca vomited and knitted a cardigan out of the vomit.





And as always, Frankie delivered, again. Their covers seem to get more and more unbearably beautiful every single month. Four/five years and counting of reading it obsessively, and I still can't get enough. I wish it wasn't bimonthly, I'm not the type to ration magazines out over weeks and weeks. I consume it all frantically like it's going to disappear the minute I lay my grubby little hands on it, leaving me Frankie-less for another two months.



And I've been waiting for these beauties to arrive in the mail for about two weeks now, so they should be presenting themselves on my doorstep any day now - floral D.M's (HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, LIFE COMPLETE) and AA Disco pants (Guys, I'm wearing pants. This is the start of a whole new period in my life). See you later, calculators. x

Recovery by Eminem, Good Old War by Good Old War, Five Ghosts by Stars

The Eminem is pretty random. I almost never listen to rap music except at parties, where it's beyond my control and it's so shitty that I have to cope by pretending to gabber and/or shuffle. But it's actually really catchy, and Love the Way You Lie blows my mind (except for Rihanna's shitty bits, her voice sounds like Justin Bieber/Bieber sounds like Rihanna and I don't like it).

Stars, again, churned out a majorly amazing album, and Good Old War...I have no idea who they are but they're folk pop-ish and they make me want to smother myself in butter and toast myself. In a good way.

Dead Hearts.

Amazing love heart cut out dress: Amourette by Amie Mai (my interview with her here). This girl is so lovely, so talented, and she handled our little mishap so amazingly well. Guys. It's a dress. With a love heart. On my back. With sparrows. All over it. It can't get much better than that.

The new Stars album (Five Ghosts) completely blows my mind. I've been listening to it on repeat, and they're one of the only bands that have remained static in my itunes library since I started high school. And that's saying something, since I used to listen to Gwen Stefani only.

My life is kind of bland at the moment. I'm just sort of ambling along, riding out high school until I can finally graduate and do whatever I want, like strip down to my underwear and throw cans of baked beans at unsuspecting strangers. High school blows.

I've been kind of overdosing on outfit posts/Lookbook posts too, I just want to get it all out of the way since I was so lazy about it for the last few weeks. P.S.
