I just got my EF 50mm f/1.8, and it's my new baby. My friend laughed at how excited I was to acquire the cheapest lens on the market, but it makes life so much more beautiful. It's like wearing rose-tinted glasses (I seriously hope I used that cliche properly), but 100 times better, and everything is all mesmerizingly, deliciously blurry. I'm a sucker for good bokeh. I'm a sucker for new treasures and good food and thrifting. Which is basically everything that happened today.

I haven't done a "what I did today" post in a while. If ever. I sort of abandoned those to the far-off days of blogging about the colour of what shoes I wore that day and speaking in code about some fickle crush. So here goes:

- I went nuts about my lens.
- I had a picnic with my friends (HOME MADE FOOD BITCHEZZ, even though I'm the only one there who can't cook).
- I thrifted but bought nothing.
- My floral Doc Martens arrived in the mail in all their flowery, oversized glory.
- I practised my Wedding Dress dance.

This bin is my best friend. So, I apologise if my personal posts are getting too frequent and too many in number. Now that my 50mm is here, you can expect a whole lot more (and nicer to look at) outfit posts. Now I'm going to return to doing the assessment that I abandoned to eat Hello Panda, blog and listen to Bon Iver on repeat. You'd think that because of how mellow he is, he'd be easy to study to. RIGHT? WRONG. He just makes me want to take my clothes off underneath a rainbow and eat leaves maybe and sway like a tree and chant instead of doing my assessment.

P.S. Thank you for all the lovely comments, I'll do my best to return all of them by the end of this week (WOOP WOOP).

I adore your blog to bits and bits and bits and pieces; homemade food photos included! Also, your thrift stores look so wonderfully full; the ones in Adelaide are usually empty and overpriced, it's disheartening, I tell ya!
p.s. I worship Bon Iver ♥
love, athena.

I need a 50mm lense so bad. I've got a 35mm which is ah-mazing because you can override the auto-focus and an 85mm which takes incredible photos but you can't really use if there's a scrap of movement ahaha. But they both have a short focal length and get that fabulous clear foreground with blurry background effect which i LOVE
I can't believe you have the time to create such a good blog when you're in year 12! I had a 3 month hiatus and came back to talk entirely about my formal dress search. How riveting!
But seriously, you're so funny. Keep up the good work

-m xx
p.s. sorry for the mega comment. I'm such a loser ahaha

Stumbled across your blog a couple weeks ago. It's lovely! Also Sefton! You're a Sefton kid? Hehe, so many used to get on my afternoon train when I was in high school.

I'm a sucker for a great bokeh, too, so I know how you feel about the 50mm lens! I have one myself and I really love it!

Seriously one of the best descriptive sentences I have heard in a long while. haha

Your photos are beautiful, your bin-love adorable and "RIGHT? WRONG. He just makes me want to take my clothes off underneath a rainbow and eat leaves maybe and sway like a tree and chant instead of doing my assessment." deems you as crazy.

And I love it all.

That guy who is winking in that photo is kinda cute! Also, take a picture of them Doc Martens with your new lens so we can bask in their flowery presence!
